Logos Bookstore Hosts Food Drive Starting Friday

Food drive coincides with Christian Store Week Sept. 28-Oct. 8

Logos Bookstore in Kent will host a community food drive in cooperation with over a dozen local ministries and charities during Christian Store Week Sept. 28-Oct. 8. Additionally, a special enhanced CD compilation will be available for a donation to raise awareness of the need for food assistance and support World Vision’s United States’ food and anti-poverty programs.

“Because of the effects of the recession and continued high unemployment, there is a growing need for local families and children to rely on community support,” said Ann Kardos of Logos Bookstore. “We want to help meet that need in a real and tangible way.”

Government agencies report that one in five U.S. children live in poverty and the rate of families who are “food insecure” has risen 30% since 2006, totaling more than 17 million families.

The 18-title CD, Lift Up: Artists and Authors Unite to Feed America's Hungry Children, features Christian songs, Bible, books, and more. Musicians, artists, authors, retailers, and publishers have donated royalties and all fees and profits plus provided in-kind services so 100% of donations are available for program support.

“The wonderful thing about this town –this whole part of northeast Ohio, really- is the kindness and support that people offer their neighbors. There has been too much division lately. It’s time to band together and lift each other up,” Kardos said.
