Kent Church to host Occupy Wall Street Discussion

Unitarian Universalist Church to discuss movement tonight at 7 p.m.

The will host a discussion about the Occupy Wall Street movement tonight.

The church's Social Justice Committee, along with The Rev. Melissa Carvill-Ziemer, are hosting the event, which starts at 7 p.m. at the church on Gougler Avenue.

The social movement, started about a month ago in Manhattan, protests the power of corporations in America and corporate greed. It's spawned hundreds of local counterparts across the U.S., including one here in Kent called "Occupy Kent State."

Tonight's discussion at the church is free and open to the public.

"People are joining the movement in outrage over the disparity that privileges the few at the expense of the many," Carvill-Ziemer said in prepared remarks. "Does that central message resonate with you? How should we respond to this growing movement?"
