Kent Celebrates St. Patrick's Day Downtown

Early morning revelers mark the holiday by chugging green beer, eating classic Irish dishes.

The start of spring break at put a dent in St. Paddy's Day crowd sizes downtown this morning, but it didn't dampen the spirits of early revelers.

Sunny skies and warm temperatures were a bonus for green-clad partyers walking to the downtown bar district in search of green beer. Outdoor patios were brimming with patrons.

Downtown eateries were busy serving up classic Irish fare, including corned beef and cabbage, Guinness bratwurst sandwiches, potato soup and Irish soda bread.

This week Kent Patch readers voted in our "Reader's Choice for Best St. Patrick's Day Hang Out" poll and the came out on top, narrowly edging out iconic Kent bar by just a handful of votes.
