Kent, Ravenna Mayors Battle in Food Drive

Kent Social Services, Center of Hope in Ravenna benefit from food drive

It's that time of year again when the mayors of the cities of Kent and Ravenna battle to raise donation items for their local food pantries.

Saturday Kent Mayor Jerry Fiala joined other volunteers to gather food items for Kent Social Services.

Christie Anderson, director of Kent Social Services, said the count is not yet complete but she expects to see more than 3,000 items raised so far.

Ravenna Mayor Joe Bica will hold a donation drive Saturday at the Center of Hope in Ravenna on S.R. 59.

The mayor's challenge lasts through April 30. To make a donation in Kent simply visit Kent Social Services on South Water Street.

Now this is the kind of battle I like to see. All for a good cause!
