Abused Dog Found on Kevin Drive

Police turn dog over to Portage APL

An emaciated dog found by Kent Police Tuesday has been turned over to the Portage Animal Protective League for treatment and eventual adoption.

Kent Police compliance officer Dana Frazier said an officer picked up the dog yesterday morning after getting a call from a resident on Kevin Drive of a dog at large.

The dog, a female mixed-breed, appeared to be about 1 year old. Poorly fed, the dog's ribs and spine protruded from its skin.

Frazier suspects the dog was abandoned and not feral given it's friendly disposition.

An official for the non-profit APL said they took the dog to a veterinarian for treatment.

Anyone interested in donating supplies or cash to support the dog's treatment can contact the APL at 330-296-4022.
