DESCRIPTION:Singer-Songwriter Demos Papadimas and his band come to Kent's
Stone Tavern on January 26th. Releasing his debut album in February\, P
apadimas&nbsp\; was recently ranked #2 by Cleveland's Scene in their "13
Bands to Watch in 2013":\n"Singer-songwriter Demos Papadimas says he "f
eels better than ever" about his forthcoming full-length\, Wandering Thr
ough the Wilderness. "I finally feel like I got the sound I always want
ed\," he says. The Howland-based musician plays a mix of American roots
and Mediterranean rhythms based on his Greek heritage. On his 2011 sel
f-titled EP\, he moves from mid-'60s-era Bob Dylan influences to a song
like "Soul of a Man" that conjures up a celebratory hora (aka circle d
ance) while the lyrics reveal his "cynical optimist" worldview. Papadim
as grew up on a musical diet of Dylan\, Grateful Dead and Neil Young &m
dash\; artists that followed traditions before tearing them apart."\n--
John Gatta\,&nbsp\; Scene\nThe Hive Robbers' uniquely Ohioan sound has
been said to resemble that of bands such as The Decemberists\, with voc
als paying homage to the grit of Tom Waits\, while pulling elements fro
m genres ranging from rhythm and blues to progressive rock. Hive Robber
s' usage of a wide range of instruments such as acoustic and electric g
 uitars\, banjo\, mandolin\, acoustic and electric bass\, harmonica\, ke
ys\, and various percussive instruments brings color and life to their
music. Hive Robbers' use of two frontmen vastly broadens the array of s
ounds they produce\, allowing them to create anything from soft folk ba
 llads to energized blues/rock songs.\n&nbsp\;\n
