Were You There Today?

Were you there today? Were you at the Natatorium? Did you watch us walk in - two boys and a disabled woman?

Were you there today? Were you at the Natatorium? Did you see how carefully the brown-haired boy guided me around? Did you wonder what was wrong with me?

Were you there today? Were you at the Natatorium? Did you help me into the hot tub? Were you the woman who could fingerspell? Did you know how touched I was by your kindness?

Were you there today? Were you at the Natatorium? Did you see how the boy spelled into my hand? Did you think it was amazing how we could communicate? Were you marveled by how fast he signed?

Were you there today? Were you at the Natatorium? Did you see me burst into laughter? Did you wonder what the boy had said?

Were you there today? Were you at the Natatorium? Did you see me in the deep end? Did you watch me paddle and float?

Were you there today? Were you at the Natatorium? Did you know what you were viewing? Did you know I was experiencing something I've never done before?

I just discovered all your writing on Kent Patch. Happy I did. I will look for you when I am swimming at the Nat! I am functionally deaf and learning to speak CASE with my friends and family so they can more easily communicate with me. It is slow going for our crusty adult brains, however! Your explanations are so helpful.. Is there a way you could pass on the relay phone call training to small business owners? That would be so helpful to them, to you and to the entire deaf community! That was one of my thoughts after reading your June post this morning. Bless you....

Nice to meet you. I'm glad you enjoy my blogs. Great idea about passing the relay info on to small businesses. I'd have to think about how I could do that. Blindness and papers do not mix well. (smile)
