What Film Would Get Your Vote for Best Picture?

What do Ohio Patch readers want to see win?

Award season has officially begun.

The nominees for the 2012 Academy Awards were announced earlier this morning. There are nine films in the running this year, and all are movies that have received a decent amount of press. You can read more about the nominees on The Huffington Post.

That doesn’t mean everyone’s going to be pleased with the choices.

What do you think? Did your favorite get a nod, or was it passed by? Tell us why in the comments.

Last year, a Brecksville resident actually got to go to a swag event for the Oscars (http://patch.com/A-fBtF). Anyone in the area so lucky this year?

There are a lot of these I haven't seen still, but I loved The Help. A group of coworkers and I are getting together once a week to watch one of the nominated movies ... I hope to check quite a few of these off the list. Next up is The Artist!

Check out what the New York Times is doing: http://oscars.nytimes.com/ballot.

You can select who you think will win and share your ballot with Facebook friends. You can also add them into a poll to see who gets more picks right between your friends.

Seriously, the best movie i saw all year was "Margin Call" with Kevin Spacey and Jeremy Irons. And it wasn't even close. 'Tree of Life' & 'Moneyball' don't even belong on the list. And how many people saw 'Hugo' ? ... 27 ? All in all, it was a down year for films and, i guess, The Academy voters are having a down year, as well.

My kids and I loved Hugo, an EXCELLENT film based on the equally excellent, Caldecott-award-winning book, "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" by Brian Selznick. I didn't know HOW they would translate this very visual book into an effective film, but the cinematography was lovely and the storyline stayed close to the book. That said, my kids and I also loved War Horse. I don't think I've ever seen so many of the Oscar-nominated films BEFORE they were nominated!

The Help is my guess. We all could use a bit of humor and fun these days!

Wow, I'm out of the loop :-( I read the Help, does that count? I can't tell you the last "grown up" movie I got to see at the theater.

I haven't seen any of them either, Kristin. My vote was for Harry Potter and it's not even on the list! :)

50/50 got snubbed by the Academy. It was the best movie I saw in 2011.
