Demolition work progressed on the Crain Avenue Bridge as workers peeled off the layers of road deck on the span on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011.

The slow demolition of the Crain Avenue Bridge continued Tuesday as workers tediously peeled back pieces of the road deck that let cars and trucks drive over the Cuyahoga River for about four decades.

The demolition is part of the Fairchild Avenue Bridge project. Demolition work actually started in mid November when workers started digging up parts of the bridge to find utility lines connected to the under side of the span.
