Hurricane Isaac May Cause Spike in Kent Gas Prices
AAA offers advice to motorists, travelers planning Labor Day trips
As Hurrican Isaac approaches landfall local drivers may want to fill up their tanks now while gas prices are relatively low.
The Ohio AAA office is advising motorists that gas prices may rise this week as refineries and pipelines along the Gulf Coast prepare to shut down ahead of the storm's damaging wind and rain.
The hurricane is predicted to make landfall near Louisiana tonight or early Wednesday morning.
"Gas prices may continue to rise this week as Hurricane Isaac disrupts production along the Gulf Coast," according to the AAA. "It remains too early to predict the extent of the impact Isaac may have on gas prices, or if that impact will be felt nationwide."
The cheapest gas in Kent could be found at Speedway on West Main Street as of Tuesday morning at $3.60 per gallon.
