Radio Personality, Kent Native Fired After Drunken Driving Arrest

Chad Zumock was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated following a crash on Lake Avenue on Friday morning.

Comedian and radio personality Chad Zumock, who was charged with drunken driving after crashing his car into a tree in Lakewood on Friday, has been fired from his job at WMMS.

The 37-year-old co-host of the Alan Cox Show on WMMS, who lives just a couple blocks away from the incident, was not injured in the early morning crash. However, he refused to take a breathalyzer test.

Cleveland.com reported that Zumock’s arrest “voided a contract he had signed with Clear Channel Communications," the parent company of the radio station.

Alan Cox announced the news over the air on Monday.

Zumock, a graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School and former Kent State University student, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, failure to control and a seatbelt violation.

His bond was set at 10 percent of $3,000, and he was released.

According to the police report, he was traveling 20 mph in a posted 35 mph zone. Zumock was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, failure to control and a seatbelt violation.

Zumock had performed just hours before the crash in Cuyahoga Falls. His Hall and Oates cover band, I Can’t Believe it’s not Hall and Oates, is scheduled to play at the House of Blues Friday night.

Zumock was also arrested in Kent in 2008 for drunken driving, prior to joining WMMS.

What is wrong with people? Thanks Chad for being more ignorant than I gave you credit for and risking countless lives so you can be irresponsible and drink and drive. Thanks!! Luckily you didn't kill anyone, or yourself. Wake up. Life is short. Alcohol is nothing but poison and it kills. Sometimes all too swiftly.

Personally I like Chad Zumock, he made a mistake, that doesn't make it right. WMMS has other people on the air who I find very offensive, I never found Chad offensive and honestly I doubt I will tune into the show as much now that he's gone. Hopefully he'll take this as chance to better himself. He continued with his appearances on Friday night (I was there) and on Saturday night. I honestly was never aware anything happened until Saturday afternoon. Alan Cox actually got on stage at Friday's show and stayed the whole evening. So when I heard Saturday about the accident, I thought it was all kind of strange. Because nothing was let on at the show on Friday night.

You should have gone out with the woman lawyer. She could represent you and you could have used the $500 for bail!
But, in all seriousness, stop this reckless and irresponsible behavior before you kill someone.
