Pro Gun Group Cites Kent Shops Welcoming, Opposed to Firearms

NEO Carry recently held an open-carry gun demonstration in downtown Kent

NEO Carry, a recently established pro-gun group in Northeast Ohio, is advising members and other Ohio residents who carry guns what businesses they can and cannot carry their weapons into.

The group, which recently held an open-carry demonstration in downtown Kent, has listed dozens of businesses — including many Kent shops — on its website advising which allow people to carry guns on their premises and those that prohibit firearms.

Here are the Kent businesses flagged by NEO Carry as either prohibiting firearms or welcoming people who carry openly or have concealed carry weapon permits:

Does Not Openly Prohibit Firearms on Premises Prohibits Firearms
Buffalo Wild Wings Cajun Dave's
City Service Towing Dominicks
Enterprise Rent-A-Car Kent Plaza Movie Theater
Evergreen Buffet Mugs
Franklin Square Deli Water Street Tavern
Henry Wahner's
Mike's Place
Off the Wagon
PC Surgeons
Ray's Place
Taco Tonto's
Pita Pit
Starbucks

According to NEO Carry, businesses listed as "gun friendly" on their website were identified as such because there are no "Guns Prohibited" signs posted and no problems have been reported for carrying there by NEO Carry members.

Establishments listed as not gun friendly by NEO Carry were identified for either posting signs prohibiting firearms or because members were asked to leave, according to the group's website.

To see NEO Carry's full list of businesses in Northeast Ohio visit the group's website.

I'm kinda glad to see this,, because the majority of people i know who carry a fire arm are law obiding citizens and know how to handle a fire arm and are very safe on carrying one..

I can't imagine why a movie theatre and some bars wouldn't want guns in their establishments.

I don't think I need a gun to go shopping in the cute little stores downtown.

Sadly, some people think they do. Even worse that they think you should, too. For "safety", of course. Because "law abiding citizens" should be able to shot and kill at will if they feel "threatened". Just the words "law abiding citizen" are comical. Then again, this is all a little comical and would be funny if it wasn't so embarrasingly sad.
More guns doesn't make us safer.

Not in downtown Kent, no. How about downtown Akron or Cleveland? I don' have a gun or a CC permit, but I fully support gun rights.

The stats on CC permit holders show them to commit gun crime at lower rates than law enforcement officers or thegeneral public, so I have no problem respecting their right to carry a gun.

Concealed carry firearms have been legal in class D establishments for quite some time now, and we have not seen the rivers of blood predicted by anti-gunners. Drinking while carrying can cost you your permit, and those who have gone through the time and expense to get one are not likely to risk losing it for a beer - which they can get quite comfortably in their own home.

Story can be misleading to those who do not read it carefully.

I agree Kit. The Patch needs to clarify its wording on this. My orginal take was that these places encouraged firearms

I never shop at a place that prevents firearms. Makes me an easy target. Seem mass shootings only happen where you CANT carry a firearm. I am not the only person who feels this way
