POLL: Police Station Tax Hike with Sunset Provision
Take our poll and tell us if you would support a tax hike to pay for a new police station if it had a time limit
City administrators are reviewing alternatives for replacing Kent's aging police department, which originally dates to 1924 and has experienced numerous structural and mechanical failures in recent years.
One of those possible alternatives could be to put a 0.25 percent income tax increase on the ballot with the addition of a sunset provision, which would establish a set time limit when the tax increase would eventually expire.
Ultimately, Kent City Council will decide how to address the issue of the police station.

This reminds me of something Howie Chizek always used to tell us taxpayers:
Even if you vote for something once- prices will always go up in order to Maintain it.
Electric, gas, water, a/c, technology.....
Something to think about.
Very pro 2nd amendment!

No, no and no!!!! The city is in financial trouble as we speak. 18m bill is not going to help. Also, the tax would have lost by a land slide given if it was a fair tax. The building has a new roof. You can see it from the street.
Didn't the building jump out in front of a police cruiser and total the car? Building "barely had any scraped"
Very pro 2nd amendment!

Why do I have to give my name, address, e-mail, etc., just to vote? Sounds like what they do in a dictatorship. Maybe if we could vote anonymously, more than 19 people would vote! Duh.

Well, Jason, if you can't figure out the answer to your question you will never be able to figure out, even with help from a poll worker, how to operate the electronic voting machine.
Actually you have to identify yourself so that you are unable to vote more than three times, which some people, believe it or not, would do.

They suddenly "need" this station so desperately because of all the new construction in the neighborhood and because they are building a new courthouse (which we don't need, either). I guess they feel like they have to "keep up with the Joneses"! I fail to understand how they could possibly need a nearly 19 MILLION dollar building! Does it include $125,000 for "artwork", like the new Parta structure?

You need to get an idea other than brand new, state of the art police station. Please look at existing empty structures, and get off the income tax plan. Not just working folks benefit from police protection. Then go to Brimfield and figure out how they did it with no new taxes
