Kent Police are looking for two men who broke into The Tannery, an extension of Kent State University, at Acorn Alley this week.
Two men pryed open a door at 138 E. Main St. in Acorn Alley at suite 203 and stole two laptops from the business.
The break-in took place between 4 p.m. on Oct. 31 and 8 a.m. Nov. 1.
The Tannery, part of the College of Communication and Information at Kent State, is a student-run, full-service integrated marketing communications firm that works with clients from around Northeast Ohio, according to the university.
Surveillance footage shows two black men leaving Acorn Alley. Anyone with information about the suspects or the burglary can contact Kent police at 330-673-7732.

I am happy the business had a camera to help with the search of the people who committed this crime. However I take issue with the subtitle to the headline. I do not recall the Patch labeling the race of non-minority offenders in past issues. "White male kills neighbor in Silver Meadows" or "White students commit ID fraud" did not appear. Curious...

I agree with Talya. Identifying the perps' race within the story is important, but using the the phrase "2 black males" in the headline borders on racism.

I strongly agree with both previous statements. Especially since there are two photos included and race is indistinguishable unless it's seen on a blood level. I hope they catch the men responsible but my god I'm glad I don't live there anymore. Headlines often as these make you question walking anywhere alone as a black male.
