Police Blotter: Man Spits at Cops, Drunks Gather at Park

Park popular after drinking
Kent police have arrested several "very intoxicated" people on Stow Street near the River Edge Park entrance this month.
Wednesday morning, just after midnight, police arrested Lori K. Rabich, 45, of Ravenna, near the park. She was charged with disorderly conduct/intoxication at the risk she could harm herself or others. The charge is a minor misdemeanor.
Hours earlier, on Tuesday afternoon, police arrested two Ravenna men in the same area and on the same charges.
Officers arrested Jason R. Elswick, 38, of Ravenna, on the same disorderly conduct/intoxication charge. Police noted that Elswick was "very intoxicated."
William A. Williams, 42, of Ravenna, was arrested with Elswick and also charged with disorderly conduct/intoxication. Williams was found passed out by police. He had been arrested on the same charges and in the same area days earlier on Aug. 3.
Man spits at cops
A homeless man arrested on drug charges became combative and spit at officers during his arrest Tuesday.
Kent police arrested Alexander S. Stone, 31, at 912 N. Mantua St. just before 3 a.m. Tuesday. He was charged with: possession of marijuana, a fourth-degree misdemeanor; possession of a drug abuse instrument, a second-degree misdemeanor; criminal mischief, a third-degree misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct intoxication/risk of harm, a minor misdemeanor.
During the arrest, Stone became combative and was spitting at officers, who had to restrain him.
Several burglaries this month
Electronics remain a popular target for thieves, who broke into several residences this month to steal gadgets big and small.
- A 42-inch LG TV was reported stolen Aug. 1 from a home in the 200 block of East College Ave. The TV set was valued at $1,000.
- An iPod Touch, about 75 mixed DVDs and CDs, gift cards, a Visa credit card and two backpacks were reported stolen Aug. 6 in the 100 block of East Hall Street. The stolen items were valued at more than $600.
- A 7-inch Barnes and Noble color eBook reader, valued at $170, was reported stolen Aug. 1 in the 1100 block of Garth Drive. In addition, thieves caused $100 in damage to a door.
