Second phase of Acorn Alley II project gets OK; questions raised about residential space and parking

Plans for the second phase of the Acorn Alley II redevelopment in downtown Kent were approved by the Kent Planning Commission tonight.
For the most part, the commission approved the plans without raising much concern.
However, questions were raised about parking for possible residential space in the project, and some question remains about a requirement in city code that calls for having a building stand along South DePeyster Street where plans show instead the plaza opens to the right of way.
"I think this looks great," commission member John Gargan said of the plans. "It’d be great to have some downtown residential condos. My only concern was that there will be sufficient parking just for those residents."

This looks great and I hope it works out for the developer, businesses, and residents. However, I lived downtown for many years as a grad student, in a very cheap apartment. Can't imagine spending a lot of money to live in a condo downtown with the vandalism, late-night noise, drunks peeing (and doing worse) on my doorstep, etc. I had the nonemergency police dept number memorized, I called it so frequently. (And I was young then, not old and cranky like I am now!)
