Kentites Busted for Meth Lab on Munroe Falls-Kent Road

All information is according to the Portage County Drug Task Force

Three Kent residents are in jail this morning following charges they were cooking methamphetamine in a Munroe Falls Kent Road address.

The Portage County Drug Task Force arrested Trisha C. Towns, 28, Adam W. Thompson, 34, and Curtis P Whitmire, 30, all of 1248 Munroe Falls-Kent Road, on charges of cooking meth at the address.

The task force received several tips that meth was being manufactured at the residence, and agents obtained and executed a search warrant Thursday night at the house, according to a press release.

Agents found chemicals, glassware, methamphetamine and other elements used in making the drug.

Officers also found a loaded handgun and a "sophisticated surveillance system monitoring the entire perimeter of the residence," according to the task force.

The Kent Fire Department responded due to the risk of a flash fire that could be created by handling chemicals used in the lab, and a chemical disposal team responded and removed the hazardous and contaminated materials.

Additional charges will be sought in the case via presentation of the evidence to a Portage County grand jury.

The Portage County Drug Task Force is comprised of members from the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, Cities of Aurora, Kent, Ravenna and Streetsboro Police Departments, Village of Garrettsville Police Department, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Portage County Prosecutor’s Office.

This is scary. You never know what the neighbors could be cooking in their home that could blow yours up. I go for walks and smell what I would call a pesticide smell in the middle of winter...... and I try to speed up my pace because I don't know what I'm breathing in.
