The Portage County Sheriff's Office arrested a Kent State University student on charges of raping two 14-year-old girls.
Portage County Sheriff David Doak announced Friday the arrest of Benjamin R. Schwartz, 19, of 1936 Kimberly Drive, Franklin Township. Schwartz was charged with rape, a first-degree felony, and importuning, a fifth degree felony.
Schwartz was arrested Wednesday.
According to the sheriff's office, detectives started an investigation after a complaint came Feb. 17 that Schwartz had chaperoned a juvenile slumber party earlier that morning at his address when he allegedly separated one of the victims from the other juveniles at the slumber party and engaged in sexual activity.
The afternoon earlier, on Feb. 16, Schwartz allegedly had sexual contact with another 14-year-old female at the same address, according to the sheriff's office.
Schwartz engaged in sexual contact with one victim and forced the second victim to submit by force or threat of force, according to Portage County court records.
The case will be presented to the Portage County grand jury for further charges.

Angry Man, I went to school with this kid and i'm pretty sure Marissa did too. My sister dated Ben and he was in my graduating class. I was in Band with him and knew him fairly well. And to be honest this kid was always really creepy and was always really aggressive when it came to flirting with girls. When I was in middle school I was in one of the small practice rooms for band and he came in and shut the door and shut the lights off. I never thought to say anything because I was young and didnt think much of it because I got out of the room before anything could happen. I hope the victims are ok..

He tried stuff like this with me too in school... I'm not surprised. Luckily I was never alone with him (not to say he didn't try to be alone with me or still manage to touch me inappropriately or send harassing texts), so he moved on to another girl... and another... and this was years ago.

I know he must have had something terrible happen to him as a child- and for that I feel sorry that he never had the help he needed- but it will only continue a vicious cycle when he chooses to rob others of their childhood. I hope these girls are able to move forward with their lives.

He didnt do u idiots the girls lied!!!! And it was my friend's house and he wasn't in charge of the girls my friend's mom was there and so was i!!! Nothing happened so shut up u werent there!!! And he is just socially akward!!!!! I have known him for 3 years he doesn't have a violent bone in him!!!!!

He may not have done it and I know he wasn't chaperoning, but I knew him well for about the same amount of time as you and with so many people coming forward describing him as sexually aggressive, to say he doesn't have a violent bone in his body is unreasonable. Unless you are a young girl then there's a whole side of him you aren't seeing... I do hope you are right about him not doing this though...
