Both of the K-9 units at the Kent Police Department are award-winning dogs following the 2nd Annual K-9 Challenge at Lock 3 in downtown Akron.

Kent Police K-9 officers Felo and Aiko each placed well at the event, which featured 20 K-9 teams from throughout Northeast Ohio.

Kent Police Officer James Ennemoser and his partner, Aiko, finished first overall in the apprehension phase of the competition. Kent Police Officer Marty Gilliland and his partner, Felo, finished second overall in the apprehension phase of the competition, which was held May 19.

The annual competition, sponsored by the Akron Police Department, features  competitions in categories including agility, searches, criminal apprehension and obedience.
