Get Out: Blues Legend and the Cleveland Film Festival

See an All-Star band and films from 60 countries

The in Kent continues its fine live performance showcase with an appearance by The Robert Lockwood Jr. All-Star Band. It's one of three special memorial shows held this weekend in Northeast Ohio dedicated to the late blues legend Robert Lockwood Jr.

For the movie junkies out there, get your popcorn and candy ready for the 35th Annual Cleveland International Film Festival. The event this year features a special showing in Akron at Chapel Hill.

Also remember the great art and fashion exhibitions in the area you need to visit before they close.

1. "" art exhibition and silent auction 

Where/When: , 257 N. Water St., Kent.

Friday March 25 and Saturday March 26 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: This is an exhibition and silent auction for the Women's Art Recognition Movement (W.A.R.M.) They hold this annual event to raise proceeds for Kent Family Services and highlight the artistic achievement of women. Enjoy photograpy, paintings, jewelry, clothing and more.

Exhibition and silent auction closes Saturday at 5 p.m.

Pricing: Free, but donations and silent auction bids encouraged.

2. Cleveland International Film Festival

Where/When: Tower City Center, 230 W. Huron Rd., Cleveland.

March 24 to April 3

Special movie showing in Akron at Plaza Cinemas at Chapel Hill, Monday March 28 at 7 p.m.

Why Go: This is the 35th annual presentation of the festival. It includes 150 feature films and 130 short subjects from 60 countries. The majority of the movies will be shown in the cinemas at Tower City Center in Downtown Cleveland, but there are special showings elsewhere including in the Plaza Cinemas, Shaker Square Cinemas, Capitol Theatre and the original festival home at the Cedar Lee Theatre.

The festival stops locally at Plaza Cinemas at Chapel Hill with The Knight Night in Akron. This is a special screening featuring the Canadian movie, The High Cost of Living, released in 2010 and directed by Deborah Chow. Film reception in lobby at 5:30 p.m. with movie seating encouraged by 7 p.m.

3. Robert Lockwood Jr. All-Star Band

Where/When: , 132 S. Water St., Kent.

Friday March 25, 7 p.m.

Why Go: The late blues legend Robert Lockwood Jr. performed at the Water Street Tavern several times before he died. His widow Mary has scheduled shows this weekend at venues he used to enjoy performing at. It's a memorial to his life and music and a celebration of his birthday. The bluesman died in 2006. at Water Street Tavern will be featuring one of the late musician's favorite meals, Coconut Shrimp Dinner.  There will also be opening acts taking the stage as well as some visits by special guests.

Pricing: Free Show.  

4. Beyond Fashion: Fiber and Fashion Art by Vincent Quevedo

Where/When: , 515 Hilltop Dr., Kent,

Daily 10 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. until 2012

Why Go: Quevedo is an award-winning fiber artist and designer. He is displaying sculptural clothing and quilted works from collections formed over 20 years. "An important ingredient in my work is the relationship between the body and the material while exploring the space between the two," said Quevedo on the museum website. He is currently an associate professor at Kent State University's School of Fashion Design and Merchandising.

5. Katharine Hepburn: Dressed for Stage and Screen

Fashion exhibit and classic movie showing of Woman Of The Year

Where/When: , 515 Hilltop Dr., Kent,

Exhibit: Broadbent Gallery, daily 10 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. until Sept. 2011.

Movie Date with Kate: Woman Of The Year, Thursday March 31, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. in museum's Murphy Auditorium

Why Go: See stage and screen costumes from this iconic Hollywood actress as well as selected publicity outfits. She won four Academy Awards over a career spanning six decades.

In conjuction with the exhibit, the museum will be showing classic Hepburn films on certain dates during the year. The first presentation is the 1942 movie, Woman Of The Year, featuring her favorite co-star Spencer Tracy. The movie wraps up the celebration of Women's History Month.

Pricing: $5 - Movie free with museum admission.
