Editor's Picks: Kent Police Levy Fails
Kent Patch gives you the editor's picks for top 10 stories of 2012.
Editor's note: there's no mincing words — members of the Kent Police Department work in sub-par conditions because of the aging police station.
Many Kent residents agree, but voters could not agree on how to pay for a new police station and that's why a proposed 0.25 percent income tax increase failed on the November ballot.
But this issue isn't dead. Kent City Council will talk about other options for replacing the police station in 2013.
For 2012, this story is one of my picks for top 10 stories of the year.

Mr. Confederate: as will I. At this point, I dont care how they want to pay for it.
After I saw those pictures of the inside of the PD, I will not put good money into subpar maintenance. Even the poorest of poor in Kent would tack/ tape/ staple up those ceiling tiles and wires hanging down. I wonder if they are secured back in place yet?

so true Teresa best way to get new is to quit doing maintenance to anything.this year it will be new PD station then next year Kent City Schools will say they need a new high school.I have been in the high school many times recently and am shocked to see how sloppy the repair work (if you want to call jerry riggin repair work) is.They need to cut teachers and administrators salary more and put more money back into budget for REAL MAINTENANCE.As a Maintenance Manager I spot sloppy workmanship and totally disgusted by it.
