Neighbors, family, friends, the landlord, contractor and other well-wishers for the owners of Dr. Greenbee helped cut the ribbon on the store's new location off Acorn Alley Tuesday afternoon.

The eco-friendly store moved to a larger space in Ron Burbick's redevelopment after seeing a strong demand for their natural products in their original North Water Street location.

Maureen Drinkard, who co-owns the store with Eddie Donley, said they had such demand for their products that they took the leap to a bigger space just months after first opening in Kent.

"We have great customers," she said.

The store will celebrate it's grand reopening from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday with free food and drinks. A class at 2 p.m. will teach visitors how to cultivate their own gourmet mushrooms.

The new location is off of Alley 4, recently renamed after Burbick, and is the former construction field house for Metis Construction Services, which is building Acorn Alley II.

David Wright, of Metis Construction, said they installed the cork flooring for the new business and painted the space with low-VOC paint. Both the flooring and the paint was provided by Dr. Greenbee and is carried in the store.
