Delays on South Water Expected for Downtown Construction

Brick work on Fairmount Properties project starts April 9

City officials are anticipating traffic delays on South Water Street associated with the downtown redevelopment work starting next week.

Managers at Premier Development, the firm handling construction for the city and Fairmount Properties on the Davey Resource Group and AMETEK buildings, advised city leaders that brick work on the west side of the Davey Resource Group building will interrupt traffic intermittently starting Monday, April 9.

The building for the Davey Resource Group, which is a division of The Davey Tree Expert Co., stands at the corner of South Water Street and Haymaker Parkway.

A large piece of machinery will be used during the brick work, and it will periodically be parked on South Water Street for a few minutes at a time while the work is done, according to an email from the Kent Engineering Department.

Flaggers will maintain traffic. The work is expected to last three weeks from April 9 to April 27.
