Courthouse Will Move to East Main Street
Portage County Commissioners OK site next to Kent Historical Society
The existing Kent courthouse, once vacated by the county, will be turned over to the city for sale or redevelopment.

Kent's new courthouse will be built on East Main Street next to the Kent Historical Society.
Portage County Commissioners voted unanimously this afternoon to select a roughly two-acre site at 303 E. Main St. to build the new courthouse.
The decision comes after years of wrangling over the location. The debate had become more intense in recent months as the commissioners sought a compromise on the location.

As a member of the Kent Historical Society Board of Trustees, I say, "Welcome, new neighbor!!!" I sure hope Jimmy John's doesn't move too far away, though!
