Court Denies Request to Stop Relocation of Kent Wells Sherman House

A Portage County magistrate has issued an order denying a request from a group of Kent residents to stop the relocation of the historic Kent Wells Sherman House to a vacant lot at 247 N. Water St.
Portage magistrate Kent Graham issued the ruling this week, which denies the request of members of the group Save the Standing Rock Garden for a preliminary injunction to stop placement of the house on the lot.
"The motion for a preliminary injunction ... prohibiting (Kent) Wells Sherman House, Inc., from disturbing or removing trees, plants, and soils, making any excavation, and placing structures or equipment on its property located at 247 N. Water St. ... is denied," the magistrate's ruling reads in part.

You CAN have chickens in Kent. They are just misinterpreting the law to the benefit of the cry babies. 519.21 - unless you are using the eggs or chickens for AGRICULTURAL purposes (some or all of your income is supplemented by the sale eggs or chickens), your chickens are just PETS. You are allowed to have pets in Kent. Chickens are just the same as having a Dog, Cat, Parrot or Fish. Fight the good fight and keep your chickens.

Please don't mislead people into believing they can have chickens in their backyard in Kent. We fought this battle and lost. Kent is silly.

"Chickens" and "fowl" include chickens, duck, geese and any other similar
type of fowl.
No permit shall be issued by the Director of Public Safety for any above-defined
animals unless the following conditions are met:
(1) The sublot or parcel of real property upon which such animals shall be kept
or harbored shall be no less than two acres in size.
-Not too many people in Kent have 2 acres. I don't.
Also, I do not plan on eating my pets or their unfertilized eggs... Can't say the same for my chickens.

everyone is bound and determined to have drama and instability in there life. it's the natural way anymore, no more handshake and a gentleman's agreement.if someone isn't nosing around in someone else's business,then they are miserable and continue to make sure others around them are the same way..get a puppy or a cat, smile once and a while. say hello to a neighbor and ask if they need anything.. support the community you live in..

Chris, you know the City can't allow that, fresh cream and milk that hasn't had chemicals and hormones added, why that's unconstitutional.

Duh... KWSH bought the property on 10/19. Since the case isn't about property rights, the judge can't do anything about what they do with the land. The case is about appealing the planning commission decision and violating sunshine law and the judge hasn't ruled on that which is obvious on the online docket. The magistrate decision sited here is from 11/26 before the closing arguments were even made. Kent is arguing that they don't have to follow sunshine law. That's also obvious on the online docket. Just click the cameras to see everything these news sleuths miss. It's heartwarming to know that Kent can violate state law, huh?
