Car Hits Bistro on Main; Restaurant Closed Temporarily
Kent woman charged with drunken driving after hitting side of building
A Kent woman has been charged with drunken driving after crashing her SUV into the side of a popular restaurant Tuesday afternoon.
Cindy Vair, 52, of 5098 Sherman Wood Drive, drove her 2004 Toyota 4Runner into the side of Bistro on Main shortly after noon Tuesday.
Kent Police Lt. Jim Prusha said Vair was arrested and charged with drunken driving, or operating a vehicle while intoxicated, which is a first-degree misdemeanor. She also was charged with reckless operation.
He said it was a low-speed accident that happened after Vair had pulled into the parking lot.
"My understanding is she was going to that business to eat and didn’t stop in time," Prusha said. "It did cause some damage to the car and to the building."
Prusha said Vair was not injured in the crash and she was alone in the car.
The accident did cause the restaurant to close briefly yesterday.
Dave Tribuzzo, manager at Bistro on Main, said no one inside the restaurant was hurt.
"Hopefully we'll be opened back up in the next hour or two," Tribuzzo said at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
