Plans have been approved to add a canoe and kayak portage, and replace some decking, at Franklin Mills River Edge Park.

The $130,000 project will replace some boardwalk steps and a retaining wall at 135 S. River St.

Other permits issued last week by the Kent Community Development Department include:

• Doree Bennett, 1409 Mogadore Road, replace garage and enlarge back room of house, $30,000
• DSMP-Kent LLC, 1800 Rhodes Road, reconstruct rear basement stairwell, $95,000
