Residents of the Lakes at Franklin Mills got some surprising after-dinner entertainment Monday night when two hot-air balloons landed in their neighborhood.

Onlookers gathered and snapped photos with their cameras and cell phones as the balloons landed softly and were packed up by their owners.

You wouldn't believe how low they get over our houses. This past weekend, our kids were able to talk to the people in the basket. We live in the Lakes at Franklin Mills and they land in our allotment quite a bit. Maybe it's because our power lines are underground. It is neat to see, but startling when you hear that big woosh from the gas burner 25 feet over your house!

I have never enjoyed the balloons hovering within spitting distance of my house and back yard. Not to mention the dogs in the neighborhood going bananas in either fear or anger over the balloons. No such thing as privacy anymore. Shame.
