The Kent Roosevelt Rough Riders were tied 13-13 with the Aurora Greenmen after the first half of the second-round Division II high school football playoff game Friday night.
But Kent couldn't respond to two more Aurora touchdowns in the second half, and the Rough Riders lost to the Greenmen 27-13 to bring a heartbreaking end to an almost perfect season.
Both teams had maintained a 10-1 record going into Friday's game. Kent beat Ellett 24-7 last week in the first round of the playoffs, while Aurora beat New Philadelphia 25-32.
Friday's score means Aurora will next play Chardon — who also advanced in the playoffs Friday, beating Kenton 34-15. The game Nov. 17 will determine the regional championship.
